A postdoctoral position in Physical Chemistry is immediately available in the Department of Chemistry at Northwestern University, IL, USA.
We are a physical chemistry lab interested in a host of problems in complex, condensed phase systems: quantum coherence in biology, control of biological function by molecular switches, mapping of enzyme-substrate interactions, and design of artificial molecular constructs for solar energy applications. Our main tool is ultrafast multi-dimensional optical spectroscopy and microscopy.
Our group is currently seeking someone with an expertise in Ultrafast Lasers. Experience in microscopy is desirable but not required Only those applicants with a record of research excellence (e.g. first-author publications in peer-reviewed journals) will be considered. Buscamos una persona con iniciativa cuyo objetivo sea realizar una investigación conducente a la obtención de la tesis doctoral para incorporarse a los trabajos de investigación del Grupo de Silicio y Estudios Fundamentales del Instituto de Energía Solar (SEF-IES-UPM).
Se ofrece la posibilidad de solicitar al Ministerio una beca FPU que cubra los 4 años de tesis doctoral en nuestro grupo.
Es requisito de la convocatoria el haber acabado los estudios conducentes a la realización del Master o Tesis Doctoral después del 1 de Enero de 2009 y contar con expediente académico superior a 1.6, aunque se trata de una convocatoria muy competitiva y se puede priorizar notas de corte superiores. Rogamos que previo al envió de su candidatura comprueben si cumplen las bases de la convocatoria (Boletin Oficial del Estado de 10 de Mayo de 2012, pag 34981)
Se valorará que la persona tenga conocimientos o experiencia previa en el ámbito de Física de materiales, energía fotovoltaica o electrónica física. Y un buen nivel de idioma inglés.
El perfil deseado es el de un licenciado en físicas y/o en telecomunicaciones.

To pursue projects studying the role of specific molecules in mediating tumorigenesis and progression, focusing on breast, bladder and prostate cancer.
Studies will be performed using a wide variety of molecular and genetic tools including siRNA technology; microarrays; RT-PCR; proteomic analysis; immunochemical techniques and animal models.
Qualified candidates should hold a PhD or equivalent degree and have a strong background and research experience in molecular biology, cell biology or genetics. The postdoctoral researcher is also expected to have effective written and oral communication skills and the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
Salary will be commensurate with academic credentials and experience.
